QLD: Nursing home residents evacuated after fire in drier

Residents from a Brisbane nursing home have been evacuated after fire broke out in a
laundry drier.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority senior operations co-ordinator DON MCKAY says the
blaze was discovered at the Hilltop Gardens Nursing Home in the inner western suburb of Kelvin
Grove at 8.30am (AEST).

He says all residents were evacuated until firefighters wearing breathing apparatus
extinguished the blaze just over half an hour later.
