FED:Australians cheer in 2011
Australians have welcomed the new year with cheers .. beers and in some cases a few
tears .. as fireworks brightened night skies in states ranging from sunburnt to sodden.
But celebrations were muted for many Queenslanders as the state struggles to come to
grips with its mounting flood disaster.
In Sydney .. a rainbow of explosions went off one after the other .. leading to a jaw-dropping
finale .. to amaze people who had travelled from all over the world to watch the five-million
