NSW: Police charge man after train passengers stabbed

SYDNEY, Aug 4 AAP - A man faces malicious wounding charges after two passengers were
stabbed on a CityRail train in Sydney's inner west.

A 21-year-old Lilli Pilli man suffered six stab wounds and an 18-year-old woman from
Penrith was severely cut on her right index finger when she tried to intervene in the
incident, which occurred near Sydenham last night.

Security guards detained a 49-year-old Balmain man who was later arrested and charged
with two counts of malicious wounding.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Balmain local court this morning.
